A Letter To My Daughter #3

Dear Keira Noemi Abigail,

Congratulation! Today you’re one month baby. Not yet a toddler, but I’m sure you will be in no time.

Last week was a very shocking week. Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia, once again bombed by some crazy guys. Of course, our initial reaction was shocked (Again? How could it be?). Then got angry (**** you, terrorist!). Then got united (Indonesia Unite: we are not afraid!). Then life goes on as usual. Yes, we all shall move on but we should not forget. Our deepest condolences to all the victims and their family.

On a brighter side, yesterday the election committee (KPU) announced the result of 2009 Indonesian Presidential Election. The winner is, as expected and undoubtly, Bapak Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Bapak Boediono. So you will spend the next five years under their government. The most pressing question today is, of course, who will run for 2014? Your father and mother really hope that we will have younger better candidates to come up within the next five years.

And on a funnier side, you seem to enjoy TV shows. Perhaps you love to hear people talk or music playing. Of course, I will not let you watch/hear sinetron. It’s definitely not good for people of all ages. It will be contraband in our house and Pocoyo will be on the top of our playlist.

You also love to turn around. Are you trying to lay on your stomach? Well, perhaps it’s time for it but we will look for further advice and will watch over you.

One thing we love to see is how you develop, grow up, so fast. We’re very happy to see your big appetite and to see that you’re very healthy and everything is alright. You give your parents a happy day everyday.

Now to end this letter, I have found a beautiful song by Martina McBride titled “In My Daughter’s Eyes“. Here’s a quote from the song. Something that I’ve felt during the last one month.

And when she wraps her hand around my finger
Oh it puts a smile in my heart
Everything becomes a little clearer
I realize what life is all about

With love, your father and mother.
