“The craftman’s spirit, I think, imbues people with a sense of beauty, as in elaboration, delicacy, care, simplicity.

In Japan, even ordinary jobs such as cleaning and cooking are filled with this craftman’s spirit. It is common sense in Japan.”

Something Different

This is a picture of flowers. Two flowers to be exact. Roses. On a vase. Aren’t they pretty?

Machi Neko 3 Exhibition

© maggot

After the first Machi Neko (Town Cats) photo exhibition in 2007, I was invited to participate again in this year Machi Neko 3. Thanks, Maggot! If you’re in Japan and will be around Osaka, please stop by and see the exhibition on this wonderful little gallery. It will be open from 27 October – 8 November 2009.

Isn’t it funny how time seems to slip away so fast. One minute you’re happy, the other you’re sad.”

Today, Three Years Ago

Looking back from today, three years ago seem so far away. It was a good day that day. A perfect day to walk the streets and taking pictures, a lot of pictures.

I choose five pictures that can summarize that day really well and, in a way, summarize most of my days walking the streets.

People doing whatever they do everyday, bicycle, kids, warung, shadow, cats, zoo.

Lately, I’ve been cutting down my internet time.

Fewer time on Facebook, not updating my status for a while and deleting most of the unnecessary apps. Unfollowing hundreds of Twitter people, or whatever they’d like to call themselves. Unsubscribing most of the feeds I followed in Google Reader. Rebooted my blogs, delete everything, salvage the important posts and move them here. Rebooted my Flickr & Tumblr and start it over again. Not to mention that I’ve already abandoned many other accounts scattered throughout the internet wonderland. I’d have to admit that I was tempted to delete most of my account, meaning delete some of my existence online, and pretending to forget that it ever happen before.

What do I try to accomplish?

I want more time in real life. To enjoy my life in real world. To walk the streets again and take pictures like the above.

And you know what? It works. Now, I have a much easier life on the internet.

Of course, life will never come around for the second time. I will never re-animate my past and get my old life back. I just need to expect more interesting things to happen in the future. Different things. New things.

Now, will you excuse me. I have a dream to dream and a life to live.
