Translation:

Under the green night sky
You saw the back of love

Sometimes you show your innocent sleeping face
And I saw your dear appearance

No matter what
I can’t forget everything
In dreams, the shutter of my heart turns off
In painful bliss

However, I still love you
However, I still love you
However, I still love you
However I’m glad even if that’s all it is

The kiss we exchanged when it was raining
Ties the both of us together

This feeling will not last my entire life
I can’t explain it well, but
After meeting with you, every day of my life
Has shone brightly

However, I still love you
However, I still love you
However, I still love you
You gave me happiness

However, I still love you
However, I still love you
However, I still love you
However I’m glad even if that’s all it is

Decorating this tiny room
Are 2 smiling faces—a photo of love

You can find pictures anywhere. It’s simply a matter of noticing things and organizing them. You just have to care about what’s around you and have a concern with humanity and the human comedy.”

— Elliott Erwitt

Hello world! Here we go again

After more than 4 years, I finally find myself back in the beginning. I can’t be happier than today! So, here comes tomorrow…

Guna Dwi Agusti

In October – November 2008 Illuminati, a local photography community in Bandung, held a free workshop with specific theme “Portraiture”. The workshop required each participant to pursue a personal project and develop a series, which is rare here in Bandung. During the month, a mentor will help them through with the concept they desire. Critics and routine evaluation of their progress lead to the final presentation project which they were asked to portray life in an orphanage and each have to choose different orphanage, meaning they should go alone and try to experience and to get the essence of life on each place in a limited time.

I think this is a good start in Bandung and will be useful especially for the young and emerging photographers. I’m looking forward for the next workshop.

In this series, Guna Dwi Agusti is documenting the simple daily life inside an orphanage. I saw the brooming duty, the togetherness of the children during meal time, and the lonely time of a child reading on his bed, probably the only private space he’s got because they share the room with some other kids.

Seeing is not enough; you have to feel what you photograph.”

— Andre Kertesz

I have to shoot three cassettes of film a day, even when not ‘photographing’, in order to keep the eye in practice.”

Of course, there will always be those who look only at technique, who ask ‘how’, while others of a more curious nature will ask ‘why’. Personally, I have always preferred inspiration to information.”

— Man Ray

To me, photography is an art of observation. It’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place… I’ve found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.”

— Elliott Erwitt
